SUNRISE at 75

SUNRISE at 75

While visiting Moab, Utah and surrounding area, I became a member of the Seventy-Five Percent Century Club. I had decided that on my 75th birthday to treat myself to a photography field trip to shoot the Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park noted for its sunrise photographs.
I arose at 4:30 AM and shortly departed on a forty- five minute drive out to the arch. Thank goodness for 24 hr. 7-11’s – COFFEE. Once I arrived at the parking lot, I began the twenty minute moderately strenuous hike to the arch. Upon arriving at the arch, I joined a group of 25 or 30 other photographers who had traveled from other parts of the world to capture the sunrise. By this time the sky was beginning to show the first signs of daylight so we all positioned our Nikons and Canons and prepared for the big shoot.

  1. Michael, that Arch certainly plays a part is these photos. It acts as a picture frame for such a gorgeous setting offering different shots as time moves on. Patience is what you need with these photos. Great job!

  2. Loved the Moab sunrise plus photos! Brought back memories of when Toni & I were there–I think by accident–on our way either to or from Lake Powell!!!
